A major part of the Wellington Transport Alliance work programme is resurfacing sections of the state highways in the Greater Wellington region. These areas include State Highway (SH) 1 Wellington Airport to Levin, SH2 Ngauranga to Mt Bruce in the Wairarapa, SH58 Haywards to Paremata, SH59 Pukerua Bay to Kapiti and SH53 Wairarapa. For an overview of what’s happening in your area, check the below regions.

What this means for you

Road resurfacing is important in order to keep roads smooth, safe and more resilient for all road users. Asphalt resurfacing works are usually carried out at night to ensure there is less disruption to state highway users at busy times. Resurfacing often requires road closures with local road detours in place.
