From Tuesday 13 January 2026, we’ll be working at the roundabout of Weedons Road and the SH1 off ramp as part of the SH1 Rolleston access improvements project. We’re making improvements to help reduce queuing on the southbound off-ramp and improve traffic flow through the roundabout at busy times. The work involves installing new drainage, adding an additional lane around the western side of the roundabout, installing traffic signals and building new footpaths.

From 3 December for about three weeks, crews will install underground services and upgrade intersections at SH1 and Newmans Road, closing Dunns Crossing Road at these points.
From 12 January to late February 2026, we start building the underground subway and half of a new roundabout, keeping Dunns Crossing Road closed at SH1. By early March 2026, traffic will shift to the southern half of the new roundabout and a new Dunns Crossing Road connection.
