SH30 Owhata to Te Ngae Junction

Making the road safer

State Highway 30 (SH30) between Owhata and Te Ngae Junction has been identified as one of the roads in the State Highway network which can be made safer. We’d like to thank everyone who gave feedback on the SH30 Te Ngae Junction to Owhata project. We have heard what you said about speed and safety and as a result we have:

• Reviewed the speed limits on State Highway 33/30 between Paengaroa and Rotorua airport and implemented speed limit changes.

• Consulted on a variable 60km/h Intersection Speed Zone at the SH30/SH33 Te Ngae Junction. We are still reviewing the feedback received on this proposed Intersection Speed Zone, and once a decision has been made, we will advise you accordingly.
• Considered making the SH30/33 Te Ngae Junction safer by constructing a roundabout.
