New SH18 eastbound off-ramp now open

North Shore drivers are advised to adjust to a big change in how they travel on SH18 as the new eastbound off-ramp at Paul Matthews Road is now open.

The new road layout shifts all traffic heading east through a new intersection at Paul Matthews Road. The biggest change is that drivers must turn right at new traffic lights on the off-ramp, to head to Unsworth Heights, the SH1 motorway at Constellation Drive or to continue travel to East Coast Bays.

People are advised to plan ahead as major delays are expected during peak times. This is a significant change and road users will need to be patient while everyone adjusts.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid SH18 altogether and use alternative routes. For people travelling from the west to the city, they can use the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) instead.

The layout will remain in place as work on the project continues.

Paul Matthews Road layout changes

This piece was filmed before a big traffic switch with a new eastbound off-ramp at Paul Matthews Road which opened on Tuesday 27 April. Those driving east on SH18 will be travelling down a new road layout and our Owner Interface Manager Simon Paton was on hand to explain the changes.
