2022

Ōtaki to north of Levin – Notices of Requirement and resource consent applications

In November, we lodged the Notices of Requirement and resource consent applications for the new highway and shared use path with Horizons and Greater Wellington Regional Councils, and Horowhenua and Kāpiti Coast District Councils. If approved, these applications reflect the key environmental approvals required for the project to be built.

Ōtaki to north of Levin (Ō2NL) section between Queen Street East and Taraua Road – Notice of Requirement

In February, we lodged a Notice of Requirement (NoR) for a 2km section of the Ō2NL new highway through what is known as the ‘Tara-Ika Growth Area’. This NoR was lodged to provide certainty for the planning processes and route protection.

The NoR for the remaining 22km of new highway will be lodged later in 2022 – this will provide community with more certainty about the location of the new road.

Preliminary economics (construction) and retail effects assessment

This report provides a preliminary assessment of the economic effects of the Ō2NL project during construction and, when the road is open, on Levin town centre. The assessment of effects on the town centre does not account for predicted population growth or any town centre development/changes.
