The RCA Temporary Traffic Management Centre

The RCA Temporary Traffic Management Centre (RTTMC) is our national centre for managing temporary traffic management on the state highway network. We review traffic management plans (TMPs), coordinate time and space bookings, and authorise things like traffic control devices and temporary speed limits.

We work with you to:

  • plan early – talk with us before you submit a TMP so we can offer guidance from the outset
  • review your TMP – check that your controls match the risks and meet legal requirements
  • book your slot – manage time and space bookings so your work does not clash with others
  • approve regulatory measures – such as temporary speed limits, road closures and traffic devices
  • track live deployments – use myWorksites data to see where temporary traffic management is in place
  • provide guidance – including self-service resources, training and direct support when you need it.

The RTTMC is not responsible for:

  • traffic signals or signal faults
  • unattended, unsafe or redundant temporary traffic management equipment
  • general contractor compliance issues
  • network-wide asset faults or maintenance.

Please log these issues by calling 0800 4 HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49) for urgent issues, or by emailing info@nzta.govt.nz
