CAPTIF Road Research Centre

CAPTIF Road Research Centre

The Canterbury Accelerated Pavement Testing Indoor Facility (CAPTIF) Road Research Centre carries out accelerated road pavement testing.

The facility tests different types of pavement and surfacing under a revolving, loaded dual-tyred truck wheel that closely replicates actual road conditions.

CAPTIF works to:

  • identify the impact of different vehicle types on pavements
  • undertake research projects into the use of different materials, environmental conditions, and construction and maintenance techniques in road pavements.
