Waka Kotahi is required to provide each Road Controlling Authority with speed management information for their network. This information is provided via the geospatial MegaMaps tool.
We are currently working on enhancements and updates to MegaMaps. This includes integrating the One Network Framework and linking it to safe and appropriate speeds. The One Network Framework is the new movement and place-based approach to categorising streets and roads. Safe and appropriate speeds provide a reference point for road controlling authorities when preparing speed management plans. Speed limit data from the National Speed Limit Register will also be included in MegaMaps once it is available.
