Request for motor vehicle details (MR32)

Use this form if you want to request:

  • core vehicle information, and 
  • the names and addresses of companies and organisations who are and have been registered in respect of the vehicle.

If you need information about registered persons who are individuals, you'll need to complete a different application.

Vehicle details

State the manufacturer's designation (eg Corolla, Commodore), not the year of manufacture

Identification

Individuals - you should enter your New Zealand driver licence number. If you don't have a New Zealand driver licence, you'll need to upload copies of documents that prove your full name, date of birth and signature (for example passport or firearms licence). 

Corporate organisations (non-individuals) - you should enter your Waka Kotahi customer number (if you have one) or New Zealand business number (NZBN). If you don't have a customer number or NZBN, you'll need to upload a copy of your Certificate of incorporation.

You must provide a New Zealand physical and mailing address, overseas addresses are not acceptable

The particulars you provide will become part of the Motor Vehicle Register. Collection, dissemination and release of this information is authorised by Part 17 of the Land Transport Act 1998. Corresponding information held on other parts of the Land Transport Register may be amended.

Under the Electoral Act 1993, s 263B, the Electoral Enrolment Centre operates an authorised information matching programme with Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency. The purpose of this programme is to assist in keeping the electoral roll up-to-date.
