This tool helps you check if you are eligible to claim a regional fuel tax rebate.
Applies to fuel purchased after 1 July 2018.

For example, chainsaws, stump grinders, pumps, compressors, generators or light towers.
Includes search and rescue vessels, and most international vessels including superyachts. Fuel used in privately owned recreational boats and pleasure craft is not eligible for a rebate.
This rule only applies to a vehicle which is not legally required to be registered. It does not include vehicles with an expired or suspended registration (rego).
Includes specialised vehicles that use petrol.
You did not pay regional fuel tax, so you cannot claim a rebate.
If the RUC exempt vehicle is on the list of specialist vehicles, you are eligible to claim a rebate. View the list of vehicles that are eligible.
All other RUC exempt vehicles are not eligible. View the list of vehicles that are not eligible.
This is currently under review by Ministry of Transport, scheduled for completion in June 2019.
