The warning signs are activated via bicycle-sensitive induction loops on the road verge and notify vehicles approaching the bridge of cyclist presence.  It was found that the installation of the signs coincided with a noticeable change in driver behaviour.* Drivers were found to wait behind cyclists and drive more cautiously.
