Humans are diverse. Designing streets and places for pedestrians means designing for all manner of human capabilities and states. Every human is unique in their physical, mental, and sensory capabilities. These capabilities can change over time or in different situations, for example if a person is carrying luggage, or accompanying a small child. In addition, states such as anxiety, happiness, and wellness can affect how easy it is to travel as a pedestrian.
