Primary ID

The primary ID must be issued by the relevant authority listed in the Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999.

  • The image on the passport must look like you.
  • The passport must include your full name, date of birth and place of birth.
  • The image on the document must look like you.

  • It must show that you used it to enter NZ (for example, a stamp).

    

The overseas full birth certificate must include:

  • parents' details
  • full name, date of birth and place of birth.

You must include a document from Immigration NZ which includes their full name and date of birth (can be a confirmation of their visa, work permit or date of entry into NZ).

Note: those born in Cook Islands, Nuie or Tokelau don't need to provide a document from Immigration.

    • you can show an electronic student ID on your phone or mobile device
  • anything else you need for your application, like a medical certificate.
