NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi would like to advise that bridge maintenance over Te Onewa Pā has been extended to mid-2027. The site will reopen to the public once maintenance over the pā has been completed.

This maintenance is essential, but we appreciate the impact on residents and the wider community and thank you for your ongoing support.

Access to the Pā

There is no public access to the pā. Work over the pā site is expected to finish mid-2027.

When are we working?

The majority of work will be during the daytime, Monday to Friday between 7am and 5:30pm.

Notification to residents will be given when night works or Saturday day works is scheduled.

What are we doing?

Our team are carrying out maintenance in an enclosed environment to reduce noise and dust.  The work being undertaken includes removing coatings back to the steel and repainting, to prevent corrosion.
