From mid-September and throughout October, we’ll be resurfacing sections of SH2 in Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt. These will require various detours at night through the Hutt Valley. An overview of the resurfacing sites, as well as detour routes that will apply are below.
Resurfacing works are very weather dependent, so dates can easily change. To stay up-to-date with when these works are happening and what detour routes are in place, sign up for updates.
We’ll be resurfacing north and southbound lanes just north of Moonshine Hill Road as well as between Whakatiki Street and north of Gibbons Street.

We’ll be resurfacing the Petone Station and Manor Park southbound offramps and various south and north bound lanes, just north of Dowse Interchange, between Melling Link Road and Kennedy Good Bridge, as well as just north of Kennedy Good Bridge.
