We’re preparing for the next stage of works at the Meeanee Road as part of building an additional overpass. From 5 January, our contractor will set up a site compound.
Cranes, piling rigs, and other heavy equipment will be brought on site to prepare for bridge piling, starting late January and continuing through late May.
Piling is one of the noisiest stages of construction because it involves driving large steel pipes deep into the ground. We’ll install 32 piles, each taking 6-7 days. To reduce noise, we’re using a quieter method where the impact happens underground and is cushioned by a cement plug, instead of metal hitting metal.
High-noise activity will occur Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 6:00pm. Noise and vibration levels will be monitored.
Temporary traffic management will be in place from early January, including lane changes and reduced speed limits. Pedestrian and cyclist routes will also be adjusted for safety.
