Detours planned for Gisborne asphalting work

|

Detours will be in place during six weeks of overnight sealing work on State Highway 35 in Gisborne.

Crews will begin asphalting work to renew the road surface, at the Jolly Stockman intersection with State Highway 2 next Thursday 11 April, before moving to other locations along SH35 over the coming weeks.

The closures will take place between 6pm and 6am, with the potential for temporary speed limits in place during opening hours, while crews are partway through completion.

At this stage, the SH35 work programme is as follows:

11 April: at the intersection with SH2 Jolly Stockman – stop/go

12 April: at the intersection with Lytton Rd – full closure

13 April: at the intersection with Stanley Road - full closure

15 April - 24 April: at the intersection with Childers Road roundabout – full closure

30 April – 09 May: Hirini St to Crawford Road – full closure

10 May – 16 May: Crawford Rd to Kaiti Maill – full closure

18 May – 25 May: Kaiti Mall to Matthews Rd – likely stop/go

The detours in place will change as the crews move to various locations of SH35. All detours will be signposted.

System Manager for Hawke’s Bay / Tairāwhiti Martin Colditz says road users should factor these overnight closures into their journey time and be prepared to follow the signposted detours.
