Expect delays on SH1 at Rangiriri

|

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises north Waikato State Highway 1 travellers to expect delays this weekend.

Investigation and remedial works on the 4.8km Rangiriri section of the Waikato Expressway are under way for the next month. For the safety of road users, lane reductions and other traffic management will stay in place over the weekends. Initial plans were to have all lanes open on weekends.

Waka Kotahi encourages people to allow extra time if travelling on this section of the Waikato Expressway, recommending they merge early into a single lane to help lessen congestion.

The first stage of the work started this week and will run into next week before moving onto the next stage. Each stage requires different on and off-ramp closures so people are asked to take extra care when travelling through the interchanges by following any temporary speed limits, traffic management and signs.

This work is weather dependant and timing will be determined following the investigation phase of each section.

Waka Kotahi apologises in advance for the disruption this work is causing and thanks people for their patience.
