Lower North Island/Upper South Island - planned state highway roadworks

The details below outline the main planned state highway roadworks occurring in the greater Wellington region and the top of the South Island over the coming week (16 April 2023).

Other important information for road users:

  • Night works for resurfacing of State Highway 60 through Tākaka have been completed. However, contractors will continue this maintenance work on this stretch of road during the day, 7.30 am to 6 pm, until 12 May.
  • In Wellington on Sunday, 16 April drivers can expect to see a helicopter lift operation during a closure of State Highway 1 Terrace offramp. This is for the removal and installation of units in nearby buildings.

NOTE: Roadworks are dependent on weather and other factors. If bad weather should strike, work will be postponed to the next suitable night in the works programme.
