Important information for drivers
North Island:
- This Sunday night, there will be a planned maintenance closure on State Highway 2, Remutaka Hill.
- Rock clearing works will be underway from Sunday at State Highway 2, Horokiwi, and the top end of State Highway 1, Ngauranga Gorge. Lane and directional closures will be in place.
- State Highway 1 tunnel maintenance closures will happen at night (9 pm to 5.30 am) in the Wellington CBD. The Terrace Tunnel will be closed at night on Monday, Mt Victoria on Tuesday, and Arras on Wednesday. Drivers heading through the city will have to use alternate routes.
South Island:
- Slip repairs will be beginning from Monday on State Highway 6, Whangamoa. Stop/Go traffic management will be in place 7 am to 5 pm daily. Drivers must follow temporary speed restrictions and can expect short travel delays of up to 10 minutes.
- Travellers going through Picton need to be aware of ongoing work on Dublin Street. A closure is in place for approximately 20 months while a new overbridge is built. More details can be found on the Marlborough District Council website.
