New rockfall barrier for Otoko Hill

|

The NZ Transport Agency is advising that a new concrete rockfall barrier is being installed on State Highway 2 on Otoko Hill, north of the Hihiroroa Road intersection between Te Karaka and Matawai.

The works form part of the resilience programme for the region’s state highway network, and will address lane closures because of rock fall onto the road.

Works begin on Monday 12 August and will continue until Friday 6 September between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday.

The road will be reduced to one lane with traffic management in place including stop/go control and a 30 kilometre speed restriction while contractors are working at the site.

Motorists should expect delays of five to 10 minutes and allow extra time for their journeys.
