Night-time detours for median barrier repairs – State Highway 2 Masterton to Carterton

|

Drivers heading south from Masterton to Carterton will have to take a night-time detour this week as contractors fix central median barriers.

Road crews will be fixing crash-damaged wire rope barriers between 8pm and 6am on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights.

Because of the work required, the southbound lane of State Highway 2 will be closed between Masterton and Carterton. Road crews must close a lane to ensure the repairs can be done safely.

To minimise disruption for road users, the work is being done at night when traffic volumes are lighter. The detour will mean slightly longer journey times for southbound traffic, and drivers should factor this into their travel plans.

Detour route

  • Drivers heading south – diversions will be in place from Cornwall Road to Hughes Line, just north of Carterton.
  • Drivers heading north – you can use the highway but be aware of any changes in traffic layout.

Works schedule

  • Tuesday to Thursday nights, 8pm to 6am.
  • Contractors will start setting up traffic management from 7pm.
