NZTA launches 0800 number for vehicle safety concerns and compliance issues

|

The NZ Transport Agency has set up a new, independently monitored 0800 number for industry workers or members of the public to provide information or raise concerns with vehicle certification work or other compliance issues.

0800 468 244 is free to call, anonymous and available 24/7. We encourage anyone with genuine safety concerns or information about non-compliance to report it,” NZ Transport Agency Chief Executive Fergus Gammie says.

“Safety on the roads is NZTA’s top priority – full stop.”

Concerns we want to hear about could also include, but are not limited to:

  • issues with warrants or certificates of fitness (WoFs or CoFs) and the inspectors or inspecting organisations
  • transport operators and their drivers not following the relevant rules
  • concerns about approved course providers not complying with the requirements of providing education and assessment for drivers sitting a range of licences
  • concerns about heavy vehicle certifications.

“We are working hard to give New Zealanders assurances that the vehicles they share the road with are certified to a high standard and are safe. We are making strong progress, but there is much more to do.”

NOTE: Due to light volumes of calls in recent months, this phone number is no longer active.

If you have concerns about instances of non-compliance, you can report these through our complaint form on our website and can tick a box on the form to make your complaint anonymous.

If you are comfortable providing your details with your complaint, you can can use the complaint form on our website, email us on info@nzta.govt.nz or call us on 0800 699 000.
