State Highway 1 in Kilbirnie is now fully open after protestors blocked a lane of the highway earlier this morning.

The incident was reported shortly before eight am this morning and the route was closed to city-bound traffic until just before nine am.
Drivers can expect some delays while queued traffic clears

Commuters heading from Miramar and Kilbirnie into Wellington city can expect delays this morning.
Because of protest action, the road is closed to city-bound traffic, near the intersection of State Highway 1 and Hamilton Road.
Traffic management is in place and police are at the scene.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area and consider an alternate route.
