Safety improvement work for the Nevis Bluff

|

Further safety improvement work starts next week at the Nevis Bluff above State Highway 6 about half way between Cromwell and Queenstown.

NZ Transport Agency Project Manager John Jarvis says the work starting on Monday 28 April 2014, is part of on-going safety and monitoring of the Nevis Bluff. This particular job involves abseil inspections, rock bolt stabilisation, scaling and helicopter sluicing to remove loose debris.

“Road user safety is paramount while we do this work, making some disruptions for motorists unavoidable.”

Delays of up to 10 minutes can be expected on weekdays between 8:00am and 5:00pm from Monday 28 April 2014 until Friday 16 May 2014. These times are subject to weather conditions. We thank motorists for their patience while this important safety work is carried out, Mr Jarvis said.

Regular updates on this work will be available by calling 0800 44 44 49 or on the NZ Transport Agency highway information website at www.highwayinfo.govt.nz(external link).
