SH45 Spotswood Taranaki storm water renewal works

|

The NZ Transport Agency would like to advise storm water renewal work will begin this Thursday, 8 August in Spotswood between Belair Avenue and Pioneer Road.

Work is expected to take approximately 6 weeks to complete, occurring between 6am and 6pm each day, and will close the right-hand turn into and out of Belair Avenue for the duration of the works.

Acting NZ Transport Agency Systems Manager Mark Owen says the Agency understands the route is a main commuter line into New Plymouth CBD for those living around Taranaki’s coast.

“The works will also be occurring directly outside both Spotswood Primary School and Spotswood College, and Te Wānanga O Aotearoa’s Rangiātea campus, so we encourage motorists who will be using this route during this period to expect some minor delays.

“The job will involve two-way traffic flow around a central work site, which is located in the middle of the highway. There will be a temporary speed limit of 30km/h during this period.

“We will also restrict access to Belair Avenue with no right turns allowed into or out of the intersection of Belair Avenue and South Road,” says Mr Owen.

There will be no road side parking available during the works.

The NZ Transport Agency wants to thank motorists for their patience during this time while we work to provide a solution to local residents with regard to storm water overflow in the area.
