State Highway 60, Mapua, now fully open following crash

Update 9:45 am:

The crash scene has been cleared and the highway is now fully open in both directions. Some travel delays are likely as queued traffic clears.

Waka Kotahi wants to thank drivers for their patience and cooperation during this morning’s closure, while emergency services and contractors attended this incident.


Update 9.10 am:

State Highway 60, Mapua, now partially open following crash

One lane of the highway between Mapua Drive and Aporo Road has been reopened to traffic heading towards Motueka. 

The other lane remains closed for traffic heading towards Mapua. Drivers heading in this direction must use local road detours.

Contractors and emergency services remain at the scene and efforts to fully reopen the road are continuing.


8:18am

Due to a crash, State Highway 60 is closed this morning between Aporo Road and Mapua Drive.

The incident, involving multiple vehicles, was reported around 8 am this morning. 

Driver travelling on State Highway 60 between Tasman and Mapua, should avoid the area, delay their journey or consider an alternate route. 

Local road detours are available.
