SH35 Tatapouri Hill improvements to get underway

|

Work to improve State Highway 35 at Tatapouri Hill, northeast of Gisborne, will get underway from Monday 14 March.

The work will see the extension of the northbound slow vehicle bay from 100m to 300m in length. It will also include drainage improvements, road repairs and surfacing, as well as the installation of signs, road markings and safety barriers.

These improvements will help improve safety by reducing driver frustration and are part of a wider project that aims to provide more safe places to pass slow vehicles and more places to pull off the road to check messages or take a break on State Highways 2 and 35.

During the works there will be temporary speed limits in place and short periods of Stop/Go traffic management.

Motorists are asked to adhere to the relevant speed limits and follow the directions of traffic management staff and signs to help keep everyone safe.

The work is expected to take approximately eight weeks to complete, weather dependent.

Waka Kotahi thanks people for their patience while we undertake this important work to improve the safety and efficiency of Gisborne’s state highway network.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
