Gladstone Road Bridge will be reduced to one lane with stop/go controllers on Thursday 1 November. The historic bridge is currently being widened to create a shared walking and cycling path, as part of Gisborne’s Urban Cycleways Programme, aimed at getting more locals on their bikes.
The first of 3400 stone columns, which would reach from the project site to Waihi Beach if they were laid out end to end, are being installed on the Baypark to Bayfair Link project. The columns will improve the ground conditions throughout the site so it can eventually take the weight of the two flyovers.
The NZ Transport Agency is holding a series of drop-in sessions next week (23-26 October) to talk the community through planned safety improvements on State Highway 5 between Wairakei and the State Highway 5/State Highway 38 intersection, near Rainbow Mountain.
