Claudelands intersection upgrades

With 12,600 vehicles per day, several business outlets, residential side streets, a large conference and entertainment venue, and the East Coast Main Trunk railway line nearby, high-risk intersections in Claudelands East in Hamilton required changes to improve the safety for everyone who travels through this area.

These changes were focused on improving safety for everyone, including people using active modes of transports such as walking and cycling, to access Hamilton’s central city area.

By including dedicated cycle lanes, raised safety platforms for pedestrians to cross, clear road markings and reducing the speed to 30km/h, the safety has significantly increased and provides an important link in the ongoing improvement of the city’s overall biking network by connecting several commuting routes.
