In March 2025, detailed design of the 4-laning between Taradale Road and Pākowhai/Links Road got underway. In this phase, we’re refining plans and the design. Key focus areas include bridge design, environmental assessments (eg noise), landscaping, stormwater treatment, street lighting, road width, pavement type, slopes, drainage and consenting.
In June 2025, we lodged consent packages which included two regional consents, one for earthworks and another for the construction of new bridges at Kennedy Road, Meeanee Road and Tutaekuri River. We received consent approval in August 2025.
Construction funding was approved in August 2025, and construction began in November. We will keep people updated, including nearby residents.
