Work is underway to design an overpass at the Links Road/Pākōwhai Road intersection. This upgrade is critical to fully realise the benefits of 4-laning between Taradale Road and Links Road/Pākōwhai Road and to keep traffic moving smoothly.

The detailed design includes two permanent partial roundabouts, one on each side of the existing roundabout. The eastern roundabout will be built first. These are not full-circle roundabouts; they have an elongated, dog-bone shape, similar to what you see at the Meeanee Road overpass. The detailed design also incorporates ramps, embankments, and tie-ins to the existing state highways and local roads.

From 3 November to early December, we carried out geotechnical investigations at the roundabout to inform the overpass structure design.

Construction is planned to start in mid-2026, with completion expected by December 2029.
